The firm has occupied a historic Pikesville firehouse, acquired and renovated by Mike Katz, since 2011; before that it was based in Ellicott City, where Katz bought an existing accounting practice and grew it by half over eight years after starting out as a staff accountant at the Baltimore regional firm Ellin & Tucker. His own work centres on small businesses in real estate, professional services, contracting and retail.

Jeff Cohen came from large regional CPA firms and concentrates on tax consulting, with a real estate client base ranging from first-time investors to one of the largest landlords in Baltimore City. He also works with technology companies, conducting Research & Development Tax Credit studies and advising startups on the tax side of fundraising. Day-to-day services cover bookkeeping, payroll, auditing, tax preparation and business advisory for individuals and small to mid-sized companies. The IRS register lists a CPA credential for this practice.
